Island of Eigg

This masterpiece was sent from the the Hebridean island of Eigg in 2008. It is titled Keeping Your Feet Cool and is currently the most boring in the collection.

The message from the sender read that there was:
"... west winds with snow, east winds with rain, and no wind with no sun..."

A truly remarkable place and a must for the traveller with a sense of humour.

Wooden Figure

We're not too sure which way up this object should be viewed. It is described by the University of Oxford as a:
Painted wooden figure from New Ireland, Bismark Archipelago, Papua, New Guinea. Made in1899. Objects such as these are known as malangan and are regarded as containers of the life-force of the dead and, as such, used in mortuary ceremonies.
And who are we to argue.

This precious item may be viewed at the Pitt Rivers Museum, in Oxford. UK, where the postcard may be purchased also.
