Data Transfer
Of course the easiest way of transferring all the data from onr drive to another is to use software such as Symantec Ghost but just think of the satisfaction to do it this way:

To transfer ALL data from one hard drive to another.

Turn off the computer

1. Make the new drive the slave by positioning the jumper in the position shown.  The original will already be the master.
2. Connect the new drive.  There will now be two drives: The original as master and the new as slave.
3. Turn on the computer and press F2 at first screen to enter setup.

Tell the computer that it has a second drive.
1. At the screen: scroll to IDE Controllers option.
At the next screen: (if it has not automatically done so) use the arrows to select Primary IDE slave.  Press Enter
At the next screen: at “Type” use arrows to select Auto. 
Press F10 to save and Exit.
The computer will re start.

Partition the new drive
1. Start>Programmes>Accessories>Command Prompt
At the prompt you will see C:\WINDOWS>.  Type – fdisk
C:\WINDOWS>fdisk                        Press Enter

At the screen you will see that an extra column showing the new drive has appeared.
1. Choose: Change current fixed disk drive.   Press Enter
2. From the list choose D: (or rather not C:)   Press Enter
From the list choose option [4] to look at details.  If there is a partition it needs to be deleted.

Delete the Partition
1. From the list choose [3] Delete Partitions
2. At the warning screen choose Y     Press Enter
3. Press Esc to return to the Windows prompt.
At the prompt you will see C:\WINDOWS>.  Type – exit
C:\WINDOWS>exit                        Press Enter
Press Enter
We will return to Windows.
Restart

Make a new partition on the new drive (using Windows)
1. Start>Programmes>Accessories>Command Prompt
At the prompt you will see C:\WINDOWS>.  Type – fdisk
C:\WINDOWS>fdisk                        Press Enter

At the screen, choose option [5] Change current fixed disk drive
Press Enter
At this screen, choose option [2].   Press Enter
At the next screen, choose option [1] Create DOS Partition or logical drive
Press Enter
At this screen, choose [1] Create Primary DOS Partition. 
Press Enter

THE COMPUTER WILL NOW AUTOMATICALLY CHECK THE SIZE OF THE DISK

You will be asked if you wish to use maximum size of disk.  Answer  Y
Press Enter

THE COMPUTER WILL NOW CREATE THE PARTITION. WHEN IT HAS FINISHED.
Press ESC to return to the DOS Prompt 
At the prompt you will see C:\WINDOWS>.  Type – exit
C:\WINDOWS>exit                        Press Enter
THE COMPUTER WILL RETURN TO WINDOWS
RESTART!

Format the new partition (using Windows)
My Computer.  Right click on D: drive. 
Choose Format.  Choose Full.
THE COMPUTER WILL NOW FORMAT THE DRIVE
When finished, close the dialog box.  OK
Right click Properties to prove format has taken place.

Data transfer (from original drive to new drive)
1. Start>Programmes>Accessories>Command Prompt
At the prompt you will see C:\WINDOWS>. 
Type – xcopy32 c:\. d:\/s/c/h/e/r/k  
So
C:\WINDOWS>xcopy32 c:\. d:\/s/c/h/e/r/k                        
Press Enter
THE COMPUTER WILL NOW TRANSFER EVERY ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING

When finished. Shut down

Make the new drive the Master
1. Disconnect and remove both drives
2. Make the new drive the Master by moving the jumper to the indicated position
3. Reconnect the drive and install
Restart the computer

Windows should start from the new drive. 
If not, press F2 at start up and select:
IDE Configuration            Press enter
Select Primary IDE Slave by direction arrows.   Press Enter
Select Auto with direction arrows
